Reading the tabs titled “An Introduction”, “Background” and “About” will help you know what this blog is about. You can track my 11-point star quilting project progress from day one to today.

 Date: Day 340 Monday July 29, 2012

How to find the number of days:

8/26/2011    http://www.timeanddate.com/date/duration.html

Project Accomplishments: None on 11-point star quilt project, except for the want to get back to it but other jobs seem more pressing at the moment

 – Over the past few days I worked on the bridge with H. We measured and marked the placement for the post braces completed on one beam. Then we attached all the post braces to the bridge beam. We purchased the stainless steel lag bolts (need a few more) and prepared to do the same steps for the second beam. I also washed the fabric for the 50th anniversary double wedding ring quilt and reviewed the directions for making it. Today is laundry day and I hope to get that and the ironing done, pay bills, and so some errands.
Books:

Author:
Book Comments: I finished a book titled the Book Woman’s last Fling. I read it in the past and it is a good book. I like Janeway books.
Exercise: I worked outside on the bridge for 6 houre on Saturday and 5 hours on Sunday.
Tools: I used a hammer, various squares, tape measures, drills, screw driver, calculator, an iron, a washing machine and dryer and I am sure I am not listing a few of the tools used.
Observations:  It took a while to get in the mental set and groove to work on the bridge but we had the tools ready and did not have to leave the site to get something we forgot. I think the second beam will go smoother and quicker.
Prayer: My prayer for today is to complete some of the things on my to-do list and at least spend some time on the rest.

Diversions:  In the last few days the diversion to the 11-point star have been the bridge and the 50th anniversary quilt. I would really like to help H complete this project successfully.

I have a good start on the 11-point star project and simply need to dedicate time to it. – The design for this  project, completed on October 8, 2009, was the primary topic for beginning my 2011 blog and I worked on it until various diversions took me to other arenas. Some of those follow:

  1. My granddaughter and grandson requested stuffed toy chickens. I purchased the supplies, have five cut out and have three nearly completed and parts of the others ready to sew once I change thread colors on my machine. This began February 19, 2012 when my visiting grand children requested this. finished  five large chickens. Of those 2 were brown, 2 were white and 1 was a pink and purple print. This project also included six small yellow chicks and 8 plastic eggs. I completed this project on Friday July 20 and mailed them out on Saturday July 21. Yipee!
  2.  My Grandson requested  a quilt. I made the pattern for the quilt but have to print it.
  3. Help husband build a 27-foot long bridge across a creek. This project began 4/6/2001 when we purchased a magazine featuring a small attractive bridge.
  4. The making of a 50th anniversary double wedding ring quilt for my sister and her husband. I purchased some of the fabric and ordered the remaining. Ordering took place on July 16, 2012. The quilt needs to be done by the first of November, 2012. I scheduled machine quilting already. On
  5. I purchased machine embroidery designs to make a machine embroidery quilt and tested the designs on scrap fabric. I was unable to find the fabric I had in mind so this project has been waiting for “inspiration” to arrive. I purchased the designs on February 5, 2011. On July 16, I ordered some of the supplies to proceed with this project.
  6. I started another book quite a while ago I sent a book proposal to a company in 2008, which was rejected so I set it aside while deciding if I could self-publish the topic and make it a popular subject for quilters. The materials sit in a project box.
  7. While in Paducah, KY, in April 2012, I purchased supplies to make a cloth purse. I have yet to start this. The materials sit in a project box.

I can probably come up with more but should probably organize these by date or importance and probably put my grandchildren first. The chickens should be easy to finish. The 50th anniversary quilt should be next.

We are on our last one. Yeah! I am waiting for fabric to begin the 50th wedding anniversary quilt. Once I get that, the top should go steadily.

Diversions: Day 328 Wednesday, July 18, 2012

So, I officially resume blogging on “From Procrastination to Completion.

I have started some things that I need to complete. They are not necessarily in the order I need to do them:

  1. Finish the 11-point star project I have a good start on this and simply need to dedicate time to it. – This project design, completed on October 8, 2009, was the primary topic for beginning my 2011 blog and I worked on it until various diversions took me to other arenas.

I purchased the supplies, have five cut out and have three nearly completed and parts of the others ready to sew once I change thread colors on my machine. This began February 19, 2012 when my visiting grand children requested this plus a quilt for my grand son.

327 Days from Thursday January 12 2012 to July 17, 2012

Posted by Beatrice on July 18, 2012

Reading the tabs titled “An Introduction”, “Background” and “About” will help you know what this blog is about. You can track my 11-point star quilting project progress from day one to today.

Friday August 26, 2011 (the beginning) to Tuesday July 17, 2012 is 327 days

Date: 188 Days from Thursday January 12 2012 to Tuesday July 17, 2012
Project Accomplishments: none on 11-point star quilt project –  I did however complete some projects.
Books: I listened to a number of books but since it has been so long, I will start anew on future books.
Author:
Book Comments:
Exercise:
Tools:
Observations: It takes perserverence to stay on the track you clink to.
Prayer: Thank you, Lord for guiding my Big Color Wheel Combinations Handbook project. Without your guidance, I would not have accomplished this feat. My petition is that this work be an asset and aid to people who purchase it. May what I put together help me to contribute positively to the live of people who use this reference book. You know it is about harmonious color combinations and you are the one who brightened our lives with color. May we always recognize and appreciate what you have provided for us and be thankful for the beauty you have put into our world. Amen
Diversions: Four months 18 days or 20 weeks,…that is how long my procrastination site lasted. Now if I had worked on my unfinished project, the eleven-point star, which I was blogging about, instead of starting another project, I expect I would have had the original blogging project done. However, another project got in the way. It seems never to fail. Something more interesting, more promising, more pressing, more pleasing, more challenging…… takes precedence.

What is it that took over? Why did I stop writing my procrastination blog?

Sometimes I weigh which finished project is more valuable. I weigh what the likelihood of success. Some times value in terms of interest, accomplishment, expected reward, prestige, longevity or dollar income .can dictate which gets set aside and which gets finished.

What was it that I did finish? I looked back in my “diversions” division of my blog and on October 7, 2011, I first mentioned it. I put together a color wheel permutation notebook for teaching purposes. That was the beginning of a 148-page book on color that I developed into a commercial product. On July 16, I mailed the first copies of the pre-publication orders. It felt good to accomplish that.

From the beginning of my blogging (August 2011) until I ended blogging January 2012, I included a daily prayer for thanksgiving or petitions. See above for my day’s prayer.
