Day 132-139 Thursday-Thursday December 8-15, 2011

Reading the tabs titled “An Introduction”, “Background” and “About” will help you know what this blog is about. You can track my 11-point star quilting project progress from day one to today.

Date: Day 132-139 Thursday-Thursday December 8-15, 2011

Project Accomplishments: None on the 11-point star. Read on to see what I did do.

Books:  Title: #14 — A Prisoner of Birth —  Author:  Jeffrey Archer– # of Discs: 13 — Listening time: 16 hours 30 minutes

Book Comments: no listening today

Exercise: basically static but not vegetative

Tools: mostly computer

Observations: A week has passed since my last post! It flew by. When I get into a mode of trying to meet a deadline, I get engrossed in what I am hoping to accomplish and spend every available minute doing the project. This is the case with turning 35 mm slides, that were scanned by Wal-Mart, into digital photos. This has been my primary focus for the past week I have two more discs full of about 133 slides each to look at, adjust in PhotoShop and save. This is a Christmas project for family members. I am now conceding that I may not get this done on time. It takes me about a day per disk of uninterrupted time. I have had interruptions each day since I started.

The slide project is something I procrastinated about since May 2008 so I am glad to be getting it done. I will use some of the photos in memory books. I will include the additional digital photos on a thumb drive.

I plan to work on the 11-point star project the week after Christmas and nothing else.

Prayer: Perhaps the fact that I have not written a prayer each day for the last week has contributed to the slowness of my slide project. I pray that I do a fine job of preparing the above slides for family members and that you speed my work, while helping me make good photo adjustment decisions.

Diversions: My diversions from the slide project included the following activities, Christmas preparations, home making and music. I also made some Christmas lace on my Janome embroidery machine. It was a first and fun project.

Date: Day 131 Wednesday December 7, 2011

Project Accomplishments: none on 11-point star quilt project today — it has been 43 days since I worked on that project. Now Christmas is coming. Exercise:

Tools: computer, printer, car

Observations: Time can fly by like the blink of an eye when I am engaged in working on projects and that is the case with working with the slides to photos.

Prayer: There should not be a day without prayer. Yet, I find it somewhat difficult to compose my thanks and my requests to you. I ask that what I do be pleasing to you. Forgive me for the times I fall short of your expectations. Guide me in my activities and make me a blessing to others.

Diversions: The day began by practicing my Meridian Music. My weekly quilt meeting was next and that went until noon. I made a return to Target and purchased some office supplies at Staples. I returned home to print two Color Wheel notebooks, which I sold today. While those were printing, I worked on slides to photos for Christmas gifts. In the evening, I had a joint concert withLansing Catholic High School. After that, I worked on one slide, trying to improve the background. I will look at again tomorrow to see if I like the changes.

Exercise: up and down stairs numerous times

Prayer: Thanks for calming my mind today and helping me get my irritation about yesterday under control. Help me to be a better person than the person who irritated me.

Diversions: Before church, I did a little Christmas decorating. After church and a nice breakfast, I went to my studio and machine embroidered lace snowflakes. That took quite a while and they look nice. While the embroidery machine was running, I began to look at fabrics for a potential blue and white quilt. I have some Sachiko snowflake embroidery designs and some blue work birds. I began looking at Irish Chain patterns for a potential layout. I had some painting touch-up work to do in the foyer and so did that. I continued various decorating arrangements in various rooms.

Date: Day 127 Saturday December 3, 2011

Project Accomplishments: none on 11-point star quilt project today — it has been 39 days since I worked on that project. Now Christmas is coming. It is really impressive to keep track of this and it is an eye opener. Just think what I could have accomplished if I had done something for the last 39 days!

Books:  Title: #14 — A Prisoner of Birth —  Author:  Jeffrey Archer– # of Discs: 13 — Listening time: 16 hours 30 minutes

Book Comments: no listening today

Exercise: up and down stairs a number of times

Tools: sewing machine, rotary cutter, car, money

Observations: Some people can be so incredibly insensitive; I just want to tell them off. But, alas, I just don’t have it in me.

Prayer: Make me tolerant of other’s shortcomings, which have influenced my day. Brighten my mood.

Diversions: I began the day by putting away fall decorations, doing some dusting and then bring out some Christmas decorations. There was a dress rehearsal for the church choir concert coming up on Dec 9. in the morning. At home again, I wanted to find a burgundy tablecloth and solar-powered candles for the windows. I spent a fair amount of time on-line shopping and finding only one solar candle and it was too expensive. I would like to get at least eight. I went to JoAnn’s, got burgundy fabric for a tablecloth and then shopped at Home Goods but found nothing of interest. I hemmed each end of the fabric I purchased, put it on the table and it looks great. I watched some MSU football and then hung a Christmas quilt.

Diversions: Today began by gathering all the doll quilts and boxing them up to donation. I loaded the car with my quilt-hanging stand and the doll quilts. I made some phone calls and then went to a holiday gathering and listened to an interesting presentation on poinsettias. Two quilts from one of my quilting groups were on display, an art quilt and a health related quilt. It was enjoyable talking to attendees about the quilts.
