Reading the tabs titled “An Introduction”, “Background” and “About” will help you know what this blog is about. You can track my 11-point star quilting project progress from day one to today.

Date: Day 56 Friday September 23, 2011

Project Accomplishments: Today I began (about 10:00 in the morning) adding fabric diamonds to the paper-piecing patterns. I paid attention to directional fabric patterns as I progressed and got all the diamonds sewn to two of the large patterns. I found I had to take out some stitching and then properly align a few pieces. When I originally cut the fabric diamonds, I cut outside the marking line. I found that I needed to trim each piece for it to fit within the pattern outline. I don’t like the extra step, but I knew I might have to do trimming. The original cut allowed for thread/seam fold over thickness. Using the paper-piecing pattern changes that dynamic. I have about four more seams to stitch but they are looking quite accurate. Before I print more patterns, I will add some alignment lines, making it easier to place fabric.

Books:  Title: #9 — The Winding Ways Quilt–  Author: Jennifer Chaverini 2008 — # of Discs: 9 —  Listening Time: 10 hours 15 minutes

Book Comments:  I continued with disc 1, track 18 and ended with disc 5 track 18

Exercise: walked on treadmill for 20 minutes

Tools: I used a pressing stick after sewing each diamond seam. It replaces an iron and is similar to finger-pressing but it gives you a seam that has a sharper press. You can see one, which is slightly different from mine at http://www.shopfonsandporter.com/product/Pressing-Stick-Right/

Prayer: If you could see your way to making this a nice weekend instead of a rainy one, I would appreciate it. If you can, Do it for H.

Diversions: My day was primarily to work on the 11-point star project. I did take two short naps because I had what I call my 4:00 morning, when I awoke and decided to do some reading.
