From Procrastination to Completion

Day 54 Wednesday September 21, 2011

Reading the tabs titled “An Introduction”, “Background” and “About” will help you know what this blog is about. You can track my 11-point star quilting project progress from day one to today.

Date: Day 54 Wednesday September 21, 2011

Project Accomplishments: The patterns I printed last night were too big to fit on the largest paper my printer accepts. So, I printed them as tiles, which means they had to be assembled. Today I assembled those two patterns. I will make those two large diamonds before printing additional patterns. This will allow me to check for accuracy and color placement. However, I could not seem to focus this afternoon or I would have accomplished more.

Books:  Title: #8 — The New Year’s Quilt  —  Author: Jennifer Chaverini 2006 — # of Discs: 5 —  Listening Time: 6 hours 15 minutes

Book Comments: I finished this book this afternoon. Disc 5 was the only remaining disk and only one I can count toward time spent on the 11-point star project, which is about 1 hour.

The book was OK, but as mentioned earlier, I had listened to it sometime in the past. This author is light reading.

Exercise: (need some))—I should have walked my 5 minutes after disc 5 but my feet hurt.

Tools: no new ones

Observations: It is always best if I do not rush through a project. I speed sewed to finish a group of Crazy for Lemoyne star diamonds for a doll quilt and I am not happy with the look.

Prayer: It is afternoon and I simply need to ask you for direction. Guide my mind, hands and feet to accomplish what I set out to do. Thank you for an enjoyable morning.

Diversions: Today is the beginning  (9:00 a.m.) of the fall quilting season for MSUCC group to which I belong. I got up early and rushed off for an appointment. Then I went to my weekly quilting meeting. Groceries took some more time and I replenished my hand lotion at Yonkers. I did my email and now it is time to get something done. I am trying to figure out how I am going to have time for the projects I want to do beside this big project. I collected some leaves and weeds for the potential art quilt project. I also sewed on another doll quilt but I am not pleased with my workmanship. I rushed through it and may end up tossing the pieces—not my typical style. Decided to go to bed and read some quilting  material.
